Irvin Mayfield
How Passion Falls

Every relationship has its comeuppance. Either the couple gets out of the trap at some point, or they follow the progression outlined by Mayfield - the illusion, the obsession, the denial, and the affair. After these stages there is only reality. Bitter recognition of all that has happened.

Mayfield brings us a good old New Orleans style blues as reality sets in. There is a certain freedom here, which feels as liberating as the illusion once did but is no longer contingent on the other person. We find ourselves again, touched by the elusiveness of our desires and by the few moments of fulfillment shared with someone else.

The mighty bond of passion rises quickly.

But how passion falls.
