Barry Martyn
Barry Martyn's Down Home Boys
Barry Martyn was working professionally by the time he was 15 and made his first recording in 1959. For more than a decade he led a highly successful band and brought to England such guest artists as George Lewis, Albert Nicholas, Capt. John Handy, Kid Sheik Colar, and Lewis Nelson. In the 1970s he fronted The Legends of Jazz and travelled extensively with the show A Night In New Orleans. In 1984 he moved to New Orleans from Los Angeles and has been active there as a performer since that time.
Press
"You won't hear Barry Martyn at Preservation Hall and he doesn't play with Wynton Marsalis but the music on this CD is 100% genuine New Orleans..."
