All true music should have no other purpose than the glory of God and the recreation of the human soul." Although these words were originally declared by Johann Sebastian Bach, countless others have echoed them through the performance of the great composer's music. Fr. Sean Brett Duggan, a Benedictine monk of Saint Joseph Abbey in Saint Benedict, Louisiana, is among those. Fr. Sean is a two time winner of the J.S. Bach International Piano Competition in Washington, D.C. (1983 and 1991). He celebrated the tercentenary of Bach's birth in 1985 by giving complete performances of Bach's The Well-tempered Clavier in several American cities....
